Governance and Reproductive Health Rights

Challenge

There is limited awareness and understanding of the concept among the general population, including youth. The youth are not familiar with their rights or the mechanisms available to hold service providers and policymakers accountable for the delivery of health services. This lack of awareness hinders the effective engagement of citizens in monitoring and advocating for improved SRH outcomes.

There is a lack of access to comprehensive sexuality education: Comprehensive sexuality education is crucial to equipping young people with accurate information on reproductive health, including HIV/AIDS prevention, contraception, and STI management. Many young people in Kakamega County do not have access to such education due to cultural and religious beliefs that discourage discussions about sexuality.

Strategies we use

Social Accountability

We empower citizens through enhanced budget and policy literacy, leading to improved capacity of local communities and citizen groups to hold public service providers accountable and to claim budget and service delivery transparency on SRH services.

Built and enhance relationships and trust between citizens and institutions(at local, and national levels) and Introduce evidence-based and more responsive SRH policies and practices.

EduSport-Football

We use football to address SRH issues among youth, which provides a comprehensive approach that combines physical activity, emotional expression, social connection, skill development, and mentorship. It creates an inclusive and supportive environment where young people thrive and overcome the challenges they face. By harnessing the power of football, we promote well-being, resilience, and positive mental health outcomes among youth.
